The Lord of the Rings:
The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)

This is a movie to cherish. It's truly magical (in a way that "Harry Potter..." never approached). If you don't like this film, then you really don't like movies! Go see, and have your breath taken away...

NB: One correction to an earlier review. Gimli is a dwarf, not an ogre!

The first in a three part trilogy based on the books by J.R.R.Tolkien.

A classic story of good versus evil. It is based on the premise that a bunch of powerful magical rings were created but there was one ring that had the power to control all the others. The owner of this ring is pure evil and sought to take over the earth with it. He was defeated in battle and the ring was taken by the humans, lost, found by a goblin, lost again, and finally found by a hobbit. But the ring causes those that possess it to become evil and greedy. The ordinal owner of the ring has now risen from the underworld and wants his ring back so that he can take over the world. So its up to a band of adventures (4 hobbits, one wizard, two humans, an ogre and an elf) to return the ring to the place it was made so that it can be destroyed. Lots of action sequences and good CGI make this a good film to watch, but its 3 hr running time plus the fact that it is a trilogy (yes folks you have to watch the other two to find out how the story ends or buy the books) are its downfalls.

If there is movies you have to watch in a big screen you have to and i repeat have to watch this one. After all it took 3 years to make and more money than you will every make in this life time to produce. It Harder than BRC. Can't spoil it by give you the plot.
