Had a great run at Bushy Park on the first weekend of the Carnival. We did a little entertaining by fitting worn-out tyres and sliding the girl around a bit but still managed 2nd in class M7 after a great day out and a few Kodak moments.

Started the rally well but lost a left-rear shock absorber at the end of stage one when the remote reservoir came loose and dumped the oil and gas from the Proflex unit. Ran the next two stages with no LR damping (that was a bit exciting) and dropped about 20 seconds on the field. We fitted a spare shock at the service halt but it was an old gravel-spec Bilstein unit and not compatible with the Proflex suspension - still better than nothing so we did our best to haul back some time.

Saturday night stages went well until the last run through Orange Hill to French Village. We landed after a flat-out 6th gear jump and sheared the differential output flange on landing. We did not have a spare so retired from the event with no drive to the rear wheels.

We were happy with the performance of the car all day on Saturday and the setbacks are not major - to be expected in our glorious sport. The car will be ready for the next RallySprint at Vaucluse Raceway on June 20th where we usually do well.

Regards
GC
