Vaucluse Raceway
Sun, May 19, 2002
The
car worked surprisingly well at Vaucluse given it's 3" of
ground clearance and limited shock travel, this is afterall
a circuit car. The Vaucluse track is fantastic fun - one corner
flowing into the next meaning you're constantly sideways already
setup for the next corner, a real driver's circuit. We had
to lift down the main straight because of the bumps but this
didn't stop us posting some quick times and having a serious
amount of fun.
Finishing
3rd in the results was a bit of a disappointment as I felt
we had Stockdale until I went straight on at the hairpin in
the semi-final. A shame, as it would have been interesting
to see just how far the car could have gone through the competition
but for my first outing on the track and my first ever run
on loose I can't complain. It was fantastic fun and a great
challenge - I look forward to a return fixture.

Texaco All Stage
May 25 & 26, 2002 |
|
|
|
Taking it easy through the morning due
to the nature of the stages we managed to have some serious
fun where the road allowed while still taking it relatively
carefully as Car Zero. Those who saw us through the sections
after Canefield saw a glimpse of what the car was really
capable of. |
Turners Hall
|
|
|
A missed pace note on the 2nd Turners Hall downhill saw us
take a bumpy crest near flat-out and damage the clutch quite
heavily. We carried on without using the clutch for some time
before taking the decision to pull the car out on safety grounds.
A shame, as we were thoroughly looking forward to entertaining
on the latter smooth stages but it gives us even more reason
to modify the car and come out again as soon as possible to
show just how fast these cars can go and just how sideways
they can get.
We'll be back, sooner than most would believe possible and
we'll be back with a car that will scare quite a few people
- did I hear 420kg, 13,000rpm and 200bhp in a purpose built
car for rallying in Barbados? I think I did.....
Graeme.
